MV Capacitor Bank
The *Medium Voltage (MV) Capacitor Bank is designed for reactive power compensation in power networks ranging from 3.7 kV to 36 kV, improving power system stability and overall network performance. Installing an MV capacitor bank reduces line current, improves the voltage profile, minimizes transmission losses, and increases the power transfer capability of distribution substations. It is also widely used in heavy industries alongside large medium-voltage motors to improve power factor and optimize electrical system efficiency.
The switchgear is manufactured in accordance with IEC 62271 standards and typically includes SF₆ gas-insulated or vacuum circuit breakers, medium-voltage capacitor units with protective fuses, series reactors for inrush current limitation, and protection relays incorporating dedicated capacitor bank protection functions such as ANSI 27B, 59B, 60, and 87C. Capacitor banks can be configured in either delta or double-star (double-wye) arrangements. The system can be designed for both indoor and outdoor installations and can be fully integrated with SCADA systems for remote monitoring and control.
